Even if you don’t have any aches or pains in your pregnancy, a visit to the Women’s Health Physio is recommended to give you advice on current and future levels of exercise for YOU.
Pelvic health physios assess and treat people with muscle, joint and movement problems. Lots of physios also assess and advise clients on how to optimise their exercises/sport/performance of activities, BEFORE they have problems. Women’s Health Physios are experts at assessing women at all stages in their lives for pelvic related issues.
Pregnancy is the most amazing time in a woman’s life when her body undergoes huge physical and sometimes mental changes in preparation for a new life!
Having a consult with a WHP when you are 12 weeks + to review your current levels of exercise and offer advice, treatment and education on your postural changes is empowering for you to power through a fit, safe and healthy pregnancy.
It is also beneficial to see pelvic health physios at approx. 20 -24 weeks as this is often the time that pelvic girdle pain can develop. It is helpful to have an internal assessment of your pelvic floor to check you are doing the correct activation of these muscles and that you know how to relax and prepare for childbirth.
